Joining Ashwin Aptitude Classes, fondly known as AAC by the students, is probably one of the best decisions I took as I began my CAT prep journey. A friend of mine, who also went through the rigour of CAT preparation had only one name to suggest and that was Ashwin Sir.
I’m from a non-math background and math has always been a daunting subject. The fear always translated into reluctance to understand and solve Quants. But Ashwin Sir starts from the scratch, you will need no prior knowledge in the subject. From the basics to the advanced level of sums, he will guide you throughout. Eventually, with time, my fear towards quants reduced drastically, and I began approaching the sums with curiosity and excitement. The can-do mentality was built, all thanks to Sir.
Mentorship and guidance, I would say, are the most important aspects for a CAT aspirant. And Ashwin Sir is truly the best mentor you can find for your CAT prep. He is extremely friendly and has the best approaches when it comes to breaking down sums in the easiest possible way. With Sir, you can be rest assured that your Quant concepts are crystal clear. All doubts are clarified and enough time is allotted to each chapter. He will ensure that your time is divided efficiently, focusing on all important aspects of the preparation like concept clearing, testing, time management, practice etc.
If you’re appearing for any MBA entrance test, and require training, AAC is your one stop solution.
Ashwin sir had a very compelling way to teach math to students who had a real desire to learn, such as myself. The actual quality of teaching was at a very high level.
He focused on making sure each student was rock solid with the foundational concepts for the topics and sections he was about to teach. For example, I was particularly poor in the section of Geometry, the topic of circles in specific. Ashwin sir dedicated a whole video explaining the different fundamentals of circles along with various iterations and ways they can be represented in questions and in our real world. This gave me a greater understanding of the various ways the fundamentals can be applied to progress within or solve questions.
He was always prompting and following up with students to share their progress and doubts. This allowed for easy and constant communication with sir and the peers taking the course with you. Finding out answers as well as detailed reasons as to why the answer may be found in 1 or multiple ways was a common occurrence. This challenged students to find multiple ways to solve questions and share their findings on the group.
He focused on making sure students studied each topic and section multiple times along with noting down questions that proved tricky and/or difficult, regardless of whether the student solved them or not, and keeping a folder dedicated to these questions. Accessing and solving questions from this folder at critical points of the student’s revision would help them fast-track the revision process while making sure the quality of questions being solved would help elevate the level of the student.
Finally, sir was a very understanding individual. Based on your overall and current goals and skills, he would shift your preparation to fit your needs and requirements. If one were to encounter any external factors that affects their preparation, Ashwin sir would give the student time and adjust the load for the student during that period. In conclusion, I realized my fear and ‘hate’ for math came from an extremely weak foundation for the subject. Through Ashwin sir’s coaching, I was able to mentally overcome that barrier with the extreme care and dedication he showed from the way he conducted himself and his course, but also with how he motivated and interacted with students.
